The life I started is a far cry from how I live now.

I spent the better part of my childhood years struggling. My teen years were riddled with traumatic events, sparking a serious desire to escape to something better.

I had always pushed myself hard in school. At age six my kindergarten teacher told me I was a leader. She also called me out as a rebel and pusher of boys on the playground, and docked me for behavior in class. I don’t remember her well, but I do remember those as defining moments. Moments where I learned who I was in relation to others, and began to understand my own capabilities.

I learned that my limits were also my opportunities. They were my learning edge, my creative pursuits, my ideas unfulfilled. They were my potential.

I view my life through this lens. I grew to respond to challenges as opportunities to do better, be better, live better. I could either shrink or grow, but I could never stay stagnant. I still live this way - I can’t stop moving. If I’m silent or still, I’m dreaming big.

Life can either crush you, or you can decide to grab it by the horns and make it what you want it to be. Your approach to difficulty decides all things in your life. Will your challenges consume you, or will you rise above them?

I credit my ability to overcome to my resilience. I am no better than anyone else out there. When faced with difficulty, with shame, with pain - do you let it break you? or do you find something - anything - that can be used as a tool to overcome? If you’re coming up empty-handed, are things hopeless? Or do you just need to rethink your approach and get back out there?

We aren’t born winners. We’re born learners. Can you take the lessons life is putting in your path to help you become stronger, more flexible, more organized, braver in the face of pain and uncertainty, more committed to yourself and your dreams, happier and more fulfilled regardless of where you are at on your path? Can you see your life as a journey to be enjoyed along the way? Can you find the little joys that are littered all around you even if things aren’t what you’d like them to be? Can you rethink your path if you find you are repeatedly roadblocked?

If this speaks to you - then please join me on a path to become more intentional, more fulfilled, and more joyful. My greatest joy is discovering and achieving purpose for myself and others through cultivating intentionality and fulfillment.

TL;DR: Set your goals and crush them to be happy and stay that way.
